In ancient times perhaps referred to as a sun wheel but, it has become Brigid’s Cross. Originally made from rushes or straw these crosses were weaved from a square in the center and four radials were tied at the ends. They were commonly hung in kitchens to ward off fire and or evil.
They became associated with Brigid of Kildare, one of the patron saints of Ireland who is traditionally celebrated on February 1st. Now one can don this elegant tribute as a charm in hand-crafted sterling silver, blazing gold, or stunning white gold.
